Tim Bugg joined the WNC Health Network full time in January 2007. Prior to 2007, Tim worked on contract for the Network in a part time capacity for several years and served as Interim Executive Director in 2000. Mr. Bugg was one of the pioneers of the Network's Group Purchasing Program and was key in its development along with the Network's now VP of Group Purchasing, Mark Landau and Mission Health Systems Director of Materials Management, Bill Myers. Mr. Bugg's primary roles with the Network lie within the Group Purchasing program and include development and enhancement of relationships within the C-Suites of all current and potential members, member recruitment and retention in both the acute and non-acute markets, administrative services and selective materials management contracting, new program development, member communications and meetings, administrative operations of the Group Purchasing program including budgeting and strategic planning, and oversight for the WNCHN food program. Mr. Bugg's primary expertise is in all aspects of Materials Management, contracting, operations, process efficiencies, and strategic planning.
Mr. Bugg has more than 21 years of experience in the supply chain field with 16 years in healthcare including not only 11 years as the Director of Materials Management for CarePartners Health Services in Asheville, NC, but also Mr. Bugg led several private consulting engagements within the non-acute healthcare sector.
Mr. Bugg is a graduate of Montreat College, a Certified Materials and Resource Professional, a current member of the Premier ASCEND Committee, a prior member and chair of the Premier Continuum of Care Committee, and served 8 years on the board of the NC chapter of AHRMM serving as President from 2004 - 2006, and is a past member of the AHRMM Membership and Chapter Committee. Mr. Bugg has been quoted in several industry articles and published in First Moves magazine in September 2004.
The WNC Health Network currently includes 48 acute care hospitals and health systems representing 68 sites in NC, SC, eastern TN, and VA and has aggregate contract spend of more than $1.6 Billion. The Network began with 16 hospitals in the western counties of NC and has grown to 48 over the past 6 years. The Network in 2011 implemented more than $14.6 Million in savings, and over the 10 years of the program, has saved members more than $76.9 Million while continuing to maintain a member ROI of 20:1.
