He graduated in 1979 from Auburn University, with a degree in Business Administration.  He worked for 6 manufacturing companies over 15 years.  These companies included Emerson Electric, Brother Industries, SCI Systems, Murray Outdoor Products, Western Industries and Tabuchi Electric Company.  During these 15 years in manufacturing, his work involved Purchasing, Inventory Control and Management.

From 1994 to present, he has been Director of Materials Management for West Tennessee Healthcare in Jackson, Tennessee.  His responsibilities include purchasing, receiving, distribution and mailroom with a total of 50 employees.  The annual purchasing volume is over 100 million dollars.  The annual cost savings, since 1994 have exceeded 35 million dollars.

He and his wife, Sherry have been married for 17 years and have two children: a son, Peyton, who is 15 years old and a daughter, Sydney, who is 11 years old.
