Since 1972, Brian has spent his career serving hospitals
and hospital
systems in materiel management applications in various
roles and
responsibilities. As a materials manager, Brian has
directed supply
chain applications from 64 bed specialty facilities
to over 300 bed
tertiary care facilities. In 1974, Brian joined Charter
Medical
Corporation and served in both field operational and
corporate staff
roles within supply management, group contracting
and capital equipment
acquisition.
During his tenure with Charter, Brian was involved
in setting up
standardized materiel management processes for Charter's
acute care and
mental health facilities nationwide. He also served
as a project
consultant for the opening of the American Hospital
of Teheran in
Teheran, Iran in 1976 and as a transition team member
for King Kahlid
Military City Hospital in Saudi Arabia in 1981.
In 1991, Brian joined Quorum Health Group as a regional
director for
Contract Administration. Since that time, he has served
as curriculum
director of the QHR College of Materiel Management,
managed two GPO
transitions for QHR facilities and developed a team
of materiel
management and supply chain consultants for the healthcare
industry. As
a member of the Materiel Resource Group, he has held
responsibility for
materiel management operations with Quorum Health
Group, which was
aquired in 2001 by Triad Hospitals. In 2001, Brian
joined the QHR
subsidiary of Triad as Vice President, Materiel Resource
Group. His
responsibilities included leadership in QHR's Supply
Chain Services,
Support Services and Strategic Service Partner operations
for QHR's 180+
client hospitals.
In November of 2005, Brian accepted the role of Vice
President,
Materials Management for Capella Healthcare. In December
of 2005,
Capella aquired 4 former HCA hospitals located in
TN, OK and WA.
Capella is located in Franklin, TN.
Brian and his wife reside in Franklin, TN. He has
one son attending the
University of Tennessee Knoxville and a son who is
a junior at the
University of Vermont.
Brian holds a B.S.B.A. degree from the University
of Nevada - Las Vegas
and has attended numerous management and healthcare
seminars nationwide.
He has served in state group purchasing associations
in Georgia and
Colorado, and served on the Skill Set task force with
ASHMM and is a
current member of AHRMM. As a public speaker in healthcare
materials
management, he has presented to the Virginia, North
Carolina and Georgia
chapters on various supply chain topics.
