Gary R. Metcalfe has served as the Vice President of Procurement and Supply Chain Management for Excela Health since it’s inception in July, 2004.  He is responsible for all aspects of supply chain management activities for three acute care hospitals and their affiliates.  Metcalfe has over 20 years of supply chain management and operations experience in the healthcare industry.

Metcalfe’s career began with Georgia Baptist Health Care System in Atlanta where he served as Assistant Director of Materials Management from 1985 to 1993.  From 1993 to 2004, Metcalfe progressively served as Director of Materials Management, Division Manager of Support Services and Vice President of Support Services for both Frick and Westmoreland Hospitals - now part of Excela Health.

Formed in July 2004, Excela Health consists of Frick, Latrobe and Westmoreland Hospitals - a merger of three previously competitive southwestern Pennsylvania hospitals and their affiliates.

Metcalfe is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is active in The Institute for Supply Management and the Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management.

Metcalfe obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University in Atlanta Georgia.
